Does this file my IFTA return for me?

No. It gives you the numbers for each state, the same ones your base state's form asks for. You type them in when you file.

Where do the fuel tax rates come from?

The IFTA, Inc. tax rate matrix for the 4th quarter 2026. IFTA posts the table before the quarter ends and calls it final on December 4, 2026. We check it again after that date.

Why does fuel I bought lower what I owe?

Accepted Answer

You already paid fuel tax at the pump in the state where you bought it. IFTA gives that back as a credit, then charges you for the gallons you burned in each state. The difference is what you owe or get back.

How is my MPG figured?

Total miles divided by total gallons for the quarter, rounded to two decimals. Every state uses that one number to turn your miles into gallons burned.

What about the Kentucky and Virginia surcharge?

Both add a surcharge on every gallon you burned in the state. Fuel you bought there does not cancel it. The calculator adds it for you.

Does it work with no signal?

Accepted Answer

Yes, once it's on your home screen. Open the app once with signal, then tap Add to Home Screen. After that it opens and does the math with no signal, and your trips stay saved on your phone.

Do I have to buy it again every quarter?

No. When IFTA posts new fuel tax rates, we update the app. Your phone picks them up the next time it has signal. Same PDF, same code.
